Acorns

I attended this festival the first year when it was the AFI Dallas International Film Festival (07). It was the first big film festival and I had a wonderful time. I had a short film playing there and my screenings were full and my Q & A’s very interactive. Unfortunately they didn’t provide hotel or airfare to shorts however I believe they did to all the feature filmmakers.

The parties were GREAT… especially the opening and closing and even the awards brunch was really elegant. The gift bag was pretty good and they even gave all the filmmakers portable DVD players at the end.

They had a shuttle bus that took us everywhere which was super convenient. I met lots of other filmmakers at this festival.

The publicity was also great, with John Wildman doing a great job and trying hard to get interviews and red carpet Q & A’s for all filmmakers including the shorts.

I don’t know if this festival has stayed as good as it was at the beginning, but I for one had a terrific experience and have very fond memories.
