There will always be a special place in my heart for the Aspen Shortsfest. No festival does it better in terms of finding talented people, fostering relationships between them, and fully honoring a genre I LOVE: the true short film. The setting is amazing; honestly Aspen that time of year is just not done justice by the word “glorious.” The staff is wonderful and giving and FUN. And once you’ve been through the fest — you’re kinda part of the Aspen Film family. You’re in their corner and their in yours. Just great.
A note on technology: the projection is impeccable and the venue (the aspen opera house) is STUNNING. I mean: there is no better place to watch a movie. Wow. The year I went, they didn’t have HD projection yet … but I bet they do now. And their digibeta projection (even their betasp projection to be honest) was better than the hd projection at 9 out of 10 festivals that had the newer technology. (Newer tech ain’t as good equipment, GREAT PEOPLE, and real care. Honest.)
